The new Black Stars players took to the dance floor on Thursday night to perform their ‘Initiation Dance’ and they put on quite a show.
The ‘initiation dance’ has become a ritual within the national team, with newly invited players required to perform a dance as part of their ‘welcome’ to the team.
Five players have been called up to the squad for the first time ahead of friendlies against Brazil and Nicaragua, which are part of preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar later this year.
Inaki Williams (Athletic Bilbao), Tariq Lamptey (Brighton), Mohammed Salisu (Southampton), Ransford Yeboah (Hamburger SV) and Stephan Ambrosius (Karlsruher SC) have all been invited to the national team for the first time and were expected to show their talents as Thursday night after-dinner dancer in France, where the team is based.
Tariq Lamptey, whom his teammates dubbed “Bobby Short,” was first on the dance floor and hey, let us be the judge.
After Tariq Lamptey there was Inaki Williams, whose moves left all the players rolling on the floor in laughter.
Salisu’s movements were quite suspicious and you could hear some of his teammates shouting in the background and asking him to “change his style”.
Ransford Yeboah has been nicknamed “Slim Buster” due to his very unique moves.
Hearts of Oak striker Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, despite not being his first call-up, still took to the dance floor to show off some deft moves.
And yet, it seems that the undisputed best dancer in the Black Stars team is Sporting Lisbon youngster Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.
Who do you think made the best shots?
Ghana vs Brazil will kick off on Friday 23rd September 2022 in Le Havre at 6.30pm GMT with live commentary on 99.7 Joy FM.
