The Prime Minister’s Office said that as part of Phase 1, the Prime Minister will open seven cancer hospitals. These cancer hospitals are built in Dibrugarh, Kokrajhar, Barpeta, Darrang, Tezpur, Lakhimpur and Jorhat. Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation stone for seven new cancer hospitals in Dhubri, Nalbari, Goalpara, Nagaon, Sivasagar, Tinsukia and Golaghat to be constructed under Phase 2 of the project.

Around 3 p.m., the Prime Minister will attend a public ceremony at Khanikar land in Dibrugarh, where he will dedicate six more cancer hospitals to the nation and lay the foundation stone for seven new cancer hospitals in Dibrugarh. This Assam Cancer Care Foundation is a joint venture of the Government of Assam and Tata Trusts, and is carrying out a project to build the largest affordable cancer care network in South Asia with 17 cancer care hospitals spread across the whole state.

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for more than 2,950 Amrit Sarovar projects. The state will develop these Amrit Sarovars at a cumulative cost of around Rs 1,150 crore.

“The Prime Minister’s unwavering commitment to peace and development in the region was exemplified by the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoS) by the Government of India and the Government of Assam with six militant groups from Karbi. The MoS has ushered in a new era of peace in the region. The Prime Minister’s speech at the ‘Rally for Peace, Unity and Development’ will give a major boost to peace initiatives across the region,” said the PMO said in a statement.

During the program, Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stone for Veterinary College (Diphu), University College (West Karbi Anglong) and Agricultural College (Kolonga, West Karbi Anglong). These projects, worth more than Rs 500 crore, will bring new skills and employment opportunities to the region.
